Viva La Vida! (COLDPLAY)

Viva la vida? Yellow? The Scientist? Parachutes?
Do these words (lyrics) ring a bell?
For all those who are still puzzled, think no further, think of COLDPLAY!
One of the most successful English alternative rock bands formed in 1996, they have came a long way to ensure that their music is acknowledged by the whole wide world. Indeed, they have succeeded in doing so.
To be honest, i am not a fan of this particular band but i cannot deny the fact that one of their songs, "Viva la Vida" has managed to capture my attention.

The link that I have posted above will direct you to the music video of this particular song. This is just to ensure that you will be able to obtain a slight insight as to what the song is about.
Viva la Vida. I am sure we are all curious what it means? The English translation for this particular Spanish phrase means "Long Live Life"...
The lyrics and the meaning of this song is something worth looking at. There are a lot of debate that is surrounding this song as to what exactly it means...
Personally, i believe it has elements of Christianity and more how the king holds a power to be able to rule over a kingdom. Thus, i have to admit this is one very interesting song worth looking into.
Thus, i will end my post today by providing the lyrics of these songs and would like to gather more opinions from my blog readers as to what you think it means in actual fact.

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets that I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
‘Now the old king is dead!
Long live the king!’

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never,
never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?

Repeat chorus
